As a follow up to my article on apartments in Utah I found this great article on renters insurance and wanted to link to it.
There are millions of tenants out there who are not even aware of the concept of renters insurance. Let’s look at some possible scenarios suggested by the folks at usarenters.com.
1. A fire breaks out in your building. You escape unharmed but your belongings are destroyed. Without renter’s insurance, all your personal belongings will never be compensated for as the insurance coverage of the landlord will only cover the rental building and not the belongings or the people inside the building.
2. Someone injures themselves at your home. Even though it was just an accident, lawyers could pin a case against you for damages related to the injury. Renter’s insurance will cover injuries and protect you from medical bills that might otherwise be financially devastating.
3.Burglary at your home. If your rental property has been subject to a robbery, only renters insurance can save you by reimbursing you for the stolen goods.
Having renter’s insurance is a wise choice. It can save you a bundle in the long run.
